CTLC 2015 Keynote Speaker - Bill O'Neal, Texas State Historian

Bill O'Neal, State Historian of TexasBill O'Neal currently is serving his second term as Texas State Historian. He has been a library patron since 1948, and as the author of 44 nonfiction books Bill has researched in libraries across the United States.

Bill has appeared on TV documentaries on TBS, The History Channel, The Learning Channel, CMT, and A&E. In 2012 Bill received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Wild West History Association, and in 2007 he was named True West Magazine's Best Living Nonfiction Writer.

Bill is the recipient of three degrees from our host institution: B.A., M.A., and, in 2013, an Honorary Doctorate of Letters. During a long teaching career at Panola College, he was awarded a Piper Professorship, and in 2013 Panola's new dormitory was named "Bill O'Neal Hall."
